Noah’s flood, Our flood

maxresdefaultThere was a flood that destroyed mankind in the day of Noah. There will be a flood again, except it will not be a flood of water, but of wrath. God’s judgement is real, and it is coming soon. Death always comes too soon. O christian you must stay the course, do not become luke-warm during what could be the final stretch of your life. O sinner hear these words of our Lord:

And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.”           (Luke 17:26-27)

Listen to His words, I am telling you the truth, when judgement day comes your more likely to have survived the global flood than escape His judgement. As surely as Christ was judged on the cross of Calvary, all men will give an account to Him. I will not sugar coat the truth for you, sinner. I am not a pastor-politician owned by his congregation’s donations. There is a reckoning coming, even for the most moral of you.  I’ve often seen what seem to be very moral, decent, good people. I willingly admit that some of them are even better behaved than I. They have their charities, their causes, their love for their fellow man, their love of decency and law. Yes, they love everything, but God. It is a great sin to live the life that God has given you for your own selfish ambition with no love or regard for Him. Many times in the old testament God has said :’You shall be My people, And I will be your God.”   (Jeremiah 30:22)
Is He really your God and are you His people? You are under the wrath of God O moral sinner. The flood waters of wrath are coming and they are violent and will not be tamed. What about you Mr. Sunday church goer? Do you start squirming in your chair because the preacher is proclaiming the gospel of Christ a little to long and you don’t want to miss your football game? Yes, you scream at your television in blissful excitement during the game, but you are emotionally dead at the singing of hymns and the preaching of the gospel of Christ. Yes, you are more excited about a your fantasy team winning, than your name being written in the Lambs book of Life. Examine yourself Mr.Sunday church goer. Be sure you will not be one of those that our Lord spoke about:

Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness .’
(Matthew 7:21-23)
Examine yourself and plead with God that your own heart has not deceived you.

What about you Mr. Backslider? Are you enjoying this world? Are you back to your old life of indulging yourself in whatever you want? Yes, you are the worst of all, likewise your judgment will be worst of all. Some never had the knowledge that you do. You came to the knowledge of the truth, whether it be from being in a christian school, Godly parents, or some other influence. You know of this great doctrine: justification by faith alone. Yet, you have turned it all aside for the pleasures of this world. Plead with Christ Mr. Backslider, that God does not harden your heart and that you become as Judas. Judas traveled with our Lord for years as you did with your parents or school. Judas saw the miracles of Christ, yet he sold Him for the world. Christ has a warning for you:

It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. “It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed. “On that day, the one who is on the housetop and whose goods are in the house must not go down to take them out; and likewise the one who is in the field must not turn back. “Remember Lot’s wife.”
(Luke 17:28-32)
Perhaps Mr.Backslider, you are relying on your own freewill. You say to yourself, “when my youth and strength is gone, I will repent and turn to God”. You are a fool! I do not hesitate to say that even your true repentance is impossible without God working in it.“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. “(John 6:44)You may repent a hundred times on your death bed but it will be out of a fear of the oncoming judgement, not a honest, humble heart.Remember the words of the Apostle Paul:

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

You see Mr.Backslider, God works the salvation on man, not you and your sweet words.

Nobody can escape this judgement, but we can be judged righteous. I have at some point in my own life been Mr.Backslider, Sinner, and Moral sinner. There is hope of redemption but it is only by grace through faith in the atoning work of Christ on the cross, and His resurrection, that any and all man may be justified before God. Go to Him and plead with Him in humbleness, asking forgiveness. You don’t need to initially, fully understand all the doctrines, only obey the Spirit of God’s gentle tugs on your heart, leading you to repentance and reconciliation to Him. He is a most loving God. Go to Him, and He will not turn you away. You cannot escape this flood of judgement, but you can be like Noah, righteous and justified, floating above it resting in the gentle loving hand of God. It is up there that we can joyfully say “we are His people and He is our God.” Amen
